We offer private swim lessons to children.  Our swim lesson program is open to both members and non-members and our instructors have received their training through the American Red Cross.

Offering private lessons allows our instructors to tailor the swim instruction to best suit your child’s needs.  We also allow flexibility in scheduling.  Some students are able to complete multiple swim lesson sessions throughout one summer.

SHSC Family Rules for Swim Lessons 

1. Students must be dressed in appropriate swim attire for lessons, please make sure small children wear a swim diaper. 

2. SHSC has a zero tolerance policy wherein inappropriate actions, language, or behavior including but not limited to bathing suit pulling, name calling, swearing, hitting, or spitting, will result in the individual(s) being asked to leave for the day. Further actions may result in dismissal from the swim lesson program, at the instructor and manager’s discretion. 

3. As a general courtesy, please give instructors advance notice for scheduling lessons.  

4. If families must cancel lessons, please communicate with the instructor as soon as you know you will be unable to attend the lesson. The lesson will be rescheduled in a timely manner.  

5. In the case of inclement weather, your instructor will communicate with you regarding any delays or necessary cancellations. If storms occur during the swim lesson, the instructor will work with the family to make up for the lost time. 

6. If a family is more than 10 minutes late to a swim lesson without communicating the delay with their instructor, the instructor reserves the right to reschedule the lesson.  

7. Families must check with instructors regarding availability before registering for lesson extension opportunities.  

8. No registrations will be accepted after the respective deadlines, no exceptions.  

9. Pool staff are the final authority regarding pool rules and consequences. If there is a question regarding pool activity, please ask our staff for clarification. 

10.  Swim instructors reserve the right to terminate a swim lesson set with no refund at their own discretion.
